St Margaret’s Nursing
home in Hawick is in the West End area of
the town within walking distance of the town
centre.
The building, and that of the
nearby Buccleuch residential care home, was
originally built as a Dominican Convent in
the early 1900s. The large house became a
nursing home for older people twenty years
ago and St Margaret’s no longer has
direct religious links.
Over the years, the character
of the building has been preserved whilst
the interior has been modernised and re-decorated
to provide cosy and comfortable surroundings
with the latest equipment to ensure the health
and safety of residents with limited mobility.
The home’s 30 rooms all have en-suite
bathroom facilities.
Our aim at St Margaret’s
is to create a homely atmosphere coupled with
the security and specialist nursing requirements
that individuals may have.
We run a varied programme of
activities for residents to join in with as
and when they choose. Our regular visitors
include musicians and entertainers and, for
those who prefer peace and quiet, we have
dedicated lounges set aside for relaxation.
